Try adapting the length of the straps, add a pocket or two, and use the techniques you’ll learn to create bespoke handbags to take you from day to evening.
Bumper Bow Bag - This large tote makes a handy holiday bag, big enough for packed lunches and guide books! I’ve kept this one really simple, but you could easily add a magnetic fastener and pockets if you wish.
Classy Clutch - Dinner in a fabulous restaurant, clinking glasses full of fizzy wine, onsuch occasions a girl’s got to have somewhere to keep her phone and lipstick! I like the subtle combination of colours and textures of fabric, and as there is a ‘D’ ring on the side of the purse you could attach awrist strap if you wish.
Ladies who Lunch - This classic handbag looks classy in faux leather, but would be just as stylish in linen or cotton fabric.
Lady Lotus - The ‘petals’ of this bag remind me of a lotus flower or a tulip, it’s an easy, fun bag to make, and can be embellished with buttons, bows and tassels or keep it as plain
The cat’s out of the Bag - A bag for cat lovers! This single handled bag is really simple to make, and the cat appliqué adds a fun element.Use plain or non-directional printed fabric as you’ll cut the patternsideways across the fabric. I’ve sewn the cat appliqué on using freemotion embroidery, if you don’t have this facility on your sewing
The 9 to 5 tote bag - A working girl will need somewhere to keep her folders and laptop,a secure zipped pocket for important things that you need to keep handy, and a couple of inside pockets to organise pens, phone and lippy. So this is the bag for her! The handle automatically closes the could be added inside if needed.
The Office Party Bag - This elegant little bag could be made in any colours to match your outfit, making you the most coordinated girl at the party! I’ve used linen look fabric for both the outer and lining of the bag, try pretty floral or a striped cotton fabric to ring the changes.
The Savvy Shopper - This stylish tote is for the working girl who like a bit of lunchtime shopping!
Up Town Girl- The simple lines of this bag are outlined with contrast coloured piping, making it a sophisticated accessory for the girl around town! I’ve used supersoft faux leather fabric for my outer and piping, and linen look for the lining but the bag would look so different in canvas or denim, pretty florals or spots.
Star Quality Messenger Bag - This is the perfect bag for girls on the go! Great for travel documents and passports, mobile phones, lipstick and everything a girl needs whenshe’s out and about!I’ve not used any fleece with this bag as I wanted to keep it soft, andback each outer piece with fusible fleece.
